can i use this sand for my planted tank?

depends on your plants.. it says marine substrate, based on that i think it's not good on plants. but i'm only assuming.
 
Get pool filter sand, its heavy enough where it won't get stirred up much and its $5 for 50lbs. I don't have any rooted plants just java fern and moss attached to driftwood.

can you give me a link to what you have if you can? what color is the sand? and where can i get it?
 
Yep, definitely get the pool filter sand and not playsand though as PFS is much cleaner and heavier so it won't be in your filter(s). It's kind of off-white.
 
ok guys ill go check it out at the pool store or lowes/homedepot
 
I was able to get mine at the local Ace Hardware. They had to order it and even shipped it to the store free of charge.
