Hmm I'm gonna get one of the hard plastic ones and make me a beast of a tank. Gonna make it look like the real wild and mix a bunch of diff cichlids hopefully it'll work out.

Many people have done this before. Some of them turned out pretty nice. Go for it!

yea the top only view kinda sucks, which is why it tends to be used more for larger fish such as cats, rays and the such. but if you like the idea of setting up a cichlid pond out of one of those kitty pools from walmart that aint a bad idea. i bought one for my dogs and it was only 15bucks and id say prolly held anywhere between 100-200 gallons so go for it, have fun with it andpost some pics. if its indoors just watch for evaporation causing some damage.

I'm using a metal frame kiddy pool for my big cats at the moment. I do have a larger blow up one but didn't want to run the risk of a fish puncturing the inflated ring while i was out, cause if that went down the whole thing would colapse and spill 1000gal+ of water everywhere then bye bye fish.

There's a few threads around with guys using these.

So if you do do it, might be better to find a metal framed one.
