I have ich in my planted tank. I have two dwarf puffers and a bristlenose. I was suggested by another site to simply add a UV sterilizer. Is that correct? Because I have one in my other tank.

UV would probably kill it after it hatches from the cysts, before it successfully attaches to a fish. The odds of it killing every one of the several thousand organisms that can hatch from each cyst before they attach to a fish is pretty slim though. As far as I know, nothing kills the unhatched cysts.

It probably wouldn't hurt, but it wouldn't be a guarantee of an ich-free tank.

No id raise the temp as high as ur fish can stand and add two tablespoons of salt per gallon over two days ich can not live past 85 degrees. Raise oxygen levels because of temperture increase and do water changes every few days only add salt to match water removed. Keep temp and salt for at least ten days.

Two tablespoons per gallon??? That's quite a huge jump and can absolutely destroy your bristlenose pleco.

A teaspoon per gallon can be added with another set added in the next 12 hours. Two teaspoons per gallon should be able to kill off the parasites but you have to remember to continue treatment process 10 days after the ich disappears to ensure the parasites are completely destroyed.

Keep water well aerated and maintain temperature to at least 84 degrees Fahrenheit.

what kind of salt do you's use? Mortons Iodized table salt or aquarium salt?
Anything can be used as long as it is sodium chloride and should NOT contain yellow prussiate.

Nice job, I didn't think two tablespoons sounded right.
