I have a breeding pair of Angelfish that won't stop breeding. I have them in a 29 gal tall tank. The male always ends up eating the eggs, but I have managed to raise seven of their offspring that I have in a 75 gal tank. they are about dime size.

Do you think it would be OK to move the adult mother to the 75 gal tank with her dime size babies?

I hate to break up the pair, but I feel like it may be taking a toll on the female by continuously laying eggs.

Thanks!

I talked to a local breeder, and he said that babies will start to harass the mom after a certain size, occasionally to the point of death. Definitely separate them

yeah it is taking a toll on her. seperate them. :)

I am sorry, I may have not been clear.

I raised the babies in a seperate 10 gal so they have never been with their mother. Now that they are dime size, I have moved them to a 75 gal. The question is:

Can I move the adult mother to the 75 gal to be with her dime size babies for the 1st time. Or, will an adult Anglefish get along with a dime size Anglefish?

Thanks for all advice!

most likely the mom will be absolutely fine with the babies... and if they are dime size will not bother them... however when you break up a breeding pair sometimes there is stress and that can make the female or male immune system weakened... feed good and all should be well.. because i understand mom needs a rest,....

Thanks Liz!

I have decided to keep them together.
The owner of my LFS said that they will eventually quit spawning.
She also suggested to lower the water temp and to add some dither fish like tetras to break up the romantic atmosphere.

worth a try to do it this way..lower the temp gradual though.. when you have a great pair like that it is good to try exery thing before splitting them up.
