I am having a lot of trouble converting my yellow tail cuda. I thought he was just 4 or 5 inches when i got him. I measured and hes like 6 or 7 inches. Anyways he gulped down 3 inch mbuna cichlids easy.

I have trouble feeding live. They mess up the tank. THey spread disease. I just dont like it. Not to mention it seems like they know they are living with nothing but predators cause they hide soon as i put them in. But spreading the worms and all that crap i can't handle.

I have jewel cichlids and some rare species like H fremponji with fry right now. I dont want to feed the fry but thats what i have been doing. The fry are wayyyy to small for the cuda though.

I am trying everything. misis frozen shrimp. silver sides. Starving him. I THINK he killed my 7 inch ELB I dont know who did. I found him dead with his lip torn off.

He was the biggest fish in the tank and would split up fights. BUt i dont know any other fish that could just tear his lip right off where you could see his bone. HIs bone was just sticking out. HE was still alive half dead by the time i got to him.

Any ideas on how to convert him to something? I got raw small shrimp. Dropped them in he did nothing. Looked at them but no hitting. I put freeze dried in there every day as well.

there has to be a way of converting? MY Red tails were wild caught and i got him on PELLETS!

Any ideas?

starve him, feed nothing but pellets, tell he eats them. but this will not change his predatory nature.

Agreed, most aquarium fish can be trained but some just take longer than others.

These have helped.

You gotta try cutting up tilapia into strips. Drop them in front of a little pump to give them movement.

Soaked carnisticks that are cut in half with some flow.

Live crickets to eventual pellets.

The last is getting some trainer fish to a doer pellets.

All of the above will include some starving.
