I went outside my comfort zone and picked up some red mammon also known as super king kong parrot. I have female sitting on fertilized eggs. Fish in a 150 holding tank waiting for permanent housing. Other residents consist of: moba fronts, german red peacocks, labitachromis and Morrii. Does anyone have an evidence where a mouth brooder successfully fertilized an egg layers eggs or vise versa?

Mouth brooders are egg layers, just not substrate spawners. Your female probably just dropped eggs without a male, and would make them infertile.
If they do hatch it would be interesting, mouthbrooders sometimes put eggs on a substrate, males fertilize them there, and later pick them up.
My Stomatepia pindu would lay eggs in a small depression, the male would fertile them, and then the females would pick them up. Many Geophagines also spawn in this manner.

Thank you. Your response brings another question. How do I determine gender on pindu? I have three juveniles and they are all the same body shape one is slightly lighter in color

Yes but they were raised in a pond, so Im not sure the reproductive process that took place. I'm thinking a zillii nest was fertilized or partially fertilized by a aureus

If you ever get a chance to snap a photo I would be honored to see

It was a few years ago and I may have a pic on another hard drive, didnt think it was much of an accomplishment at the time lol. I also have another friend who farms tilapia, like myself and has been polyculturing these two species and has reported some crosses between the two

In pindu, the females are thinner more torpedo shaped, the males get steeper profiles.
When young its very hard to see. Mine started spawning regularly when about 5"-7".

I believe the one was a male, pic taken a long time ago, before I had a real camera, and not good quality.

females more streamlined like the one below
