I am almost ready to move my silver into the 100gal Ive been working on. The only problem is I want to put the tank where his existing tank is. I have a rubbermade tub I use as an emergency tank. It is 29.5x20x17 approx 43 gal. Would my silver be okay in there for a max of 2 days while I get the new tank in place and going, I am going to put the HOB from his current tank on the temp also. Then I am going to use filter media from the old tank's filter in the new, so cycling shouldnt be an issue. Will my silver be okay. If not I am going to move the tank and put him back into it until the new tank is ready. (but I really don't want to do that) HELP

about 15".

Just use the same water, and same filters while hes in the tub.

I alway try to put some familiar object from the old tank in the temp tank if I have the room and don't think the fish will hurt itself on it. I also rinse all my filter sponges into a bucket and saturate the temp tank filter with all the bb. This trick isn't just for cycling new tanks but adds a boost of nitrifiers and other bb to a stressful situation, which never hurts.

This is how I would do it, especially if you have been doing 50% weekly water changes. Fill your rubbermaid with as much old tank water you can and place the aro in it. Move your old tank to a temp location, clean it and refill half way with the old tank water and place the aro in, then fill the rest with new water. Same as a 50% W/C. Get you new tank placed, fill it half way with old tank water and move the aro, now fill up with new water. Same as 50% W/C and now move the filters from the old tank to the new. Now you still have the same bioload with the same filters. If you have another filter to add then do so but will take 5 weeks to establish.

My smaller silver has been moved several times with this method, this saves from having to do any type drip acclimation. This would also save the aro from the stress of being in the same rubbermaid for very long.

yes it shud be ok...
i put my 22 inch silver in my 55 gallon lol for 2 weeks when we moved +the tank cycling lol... here he was... gogo flame :p

Good info you've been getting. If you put him in a tote, expect him to jump like crazy. Familiar items are good, and a floating plant or 2 may make him feel safer and cushion his jumping. Aro's seem to be somewhat afraid of the dark in my experience, a clear tote may help ??? Just from personal experience. If he's in the tote, he may not eat, I would go lean on feeding right before so there's less waste messing up the water. I'd do a water change before the move, so the water is fairly clean but is cycled, so it's still usable in the transfer. Check your param's, he should be fine. Mine flew to San Diego in a cooler and was just fine. Last thing, be sure your Aro is healthy before the great move. I did the same type of move and it went off without a hitch. We want pictures!
Best of luck!
