I just added some neon tetras to my betta sorority tank. It used to be a mixed species tank until the older fish ... Well got old. The betta girls had been eating nls community 1mm pellets when the tank also housed a swordtail platy and a molly. The tetras are much smaller fish and I'm wondering if they can eat pellets this big? My betta girls are greedy little pigs so they WILL eat some of whatever the tetras eat so I really need a food solution that won't bloat the bettas. I'm hoping the 1mm will continue to work for everyone but thought it would be wise to check other's experience.

I would say yes I dont keep any nano fish mostly large cichlids but I have had smaller Jack dempsy fry eat that size pellet

My small housing situation means I'm all nano tanks by some folks definition! I'm really hoping this works. Any way to tell if they are NOT getting enough?

Ime they can, over 1 mm and they might chew on them more than swallow them whole, but when I've kept them in tanks fed 1-2 mm pellets they've been fat and happy without special attention. If you have any doubts there's also an NLS small fish pellet.

I've fed rummynose tetra 1mm which they ate. I think neoms are smaller though. As someone said above, they'll probably eat it, but getting the 0.5mm food might mean less waste as they wont eat and spot out to make into smaller pieces.

One of my praecox rainbow females that is especially small seems to have a harder time with the 1mm NLS thera a. With the remaining 0.5mm grow, she can eat the pieces whole.
