Can Pbass live and thrive in an open tank with no decos?

I believe as adults they have no problem being in open tanks without decorations. However, as juveniles, they seem to be very shy and nervous unless they are in a good sized group or have some other active schooling fish to act as dithers.

I think when Juvies they need that security of something to hide behind unless a black tip said "in a school"..

What size do you think won't have a problem in an open tank?

IME once they reach 5-6" they are comfortable in open water.

A lot of tanks I have seen with PBass are bare bottom.
