Just picked up a 12" black aro and i think its beautiful. I was wondering if anyone has had problems keeping their black aro with pbasses? I was thinking of keeping the aro with a 5" orino and a 5" mono. They would be going together into a 210 gal tank w/ footprint of 78x30. My concern is that the pbasses will bother the aro. Should i need to worry?

Sure, as long as they can't swallow one another. This pic is from my old 210g too.

The concern I would have is the frantic activity of the pbass startling the aro, causing it to jump and possibly injure itself.

I have the silver and a mono. together. Theyre friends, but my aro is really calm.

Mine are with a Black... And haven't had a problem YET :)

15" Black Aro and 10" x 2-Monos soon to have 3 more monos and a Tem :)

yep for shure... sometimes the cichla will try and attack the aro, but it won't even hurt the aro, she responds with a body curve... no problems, had them together for quite a while.. plus it looks great...eheheh;) :D

I really like the pbass / aro combo. The point brought up regarding spoking the aro is definitely true - esp. during feeding time, since my pbasses go buckwild.

But yeah.. i was concerned since when i introduced my lima SN which is about an inch larger than the pbasses in the growout tank - 60 gal, they kept going after it. Luckily the lima is hecka fast, where the pbasses even had problems catching it. I just don't want that to happen to my aro.

For those of you who have or do keep the aro/pbass combo, do your aro or pbass get nippy towards each other? My pbasses are always jocking for pecking order. lol. Never really bad, just hear a lot of splashes.

Else - maybe I can create some safe havens in the tank - ex: like a loose pseudo plastic plant wall as to buffer some of the excitement in the tank for my aro, instead of leaving the tank barren. lol.

You shouldn't have too many problems.
