Can Plants clog filter

I see a lot of people posting about putting semi aquatic plants in hob filters and was wondering if anyone has ever had any problems with the roots growing into the propeller and clogging/frying it?

Or does the roots slow growth prevent that?

You would be surprised how fast roots will grow but never had pothos roots clog propeller because I would submerge stem in the media area of the HOB filter.

You could pickup a plastic shower caddie from Walmart and stick the plant stem in that.
