Just out of curiosity, is platinum parrot male sterile? Has anyone tried to breed male platinum and female blood parrot? If they do spawn and the eggs can batch, I’m very curious what body shape and color the fry will have. Has anyone tried this before?

Or the male platinum parrots are also infertile like most of the male blood parrot?

Any input? Thanks

A platinum parrot is actually just a shortbody convict - there may be some infertile males in there but most should be able to breed. The offspring would look like blood parrot x convict hybrids.

I thought platinum parrot are produced by male platinum convict bred with female blood parrot, similar as polar blue parrot.

They should be able to breed as long as the parrot is the female.

Polars are also just shortbody cons/hrp as far as I know.

They are not hybrids. Deadeye is right…Polar Blues are shortbody Honduran Red Points.
The platinums are a natural color morph.

Back to the OP’s question, the platinums are a hit or miss when it comes to fertility. Tried several and only 1 was fertile
