Just an idea, may be dumb but I am wondering if I could throw some cricket cubes in my tank? I have some Nature Zone Total bites. The ingredients are
Carrageenan, Whey Protein, Maltodextrin, Fructose, Lecithin, Locust bean gum, Calcium lactate, SPIRULINA, Citric acid and some other ingredients. Protein is 3.05%. Fiber is .45%. They are cubed, sink and are insoluble in water.

I dunno if it would necessarily harm your pleco, there are a few things in there that are in many of the pellet foods though. You could just buy stuff for fish, or some frozen foods, fresh veg, they'll probably prefer it. What species anyway?

Sounds like a messy pain to me.

I feed my plecos a 50:50 mix of commercial sinking catfish pellets ($16/50lb bag) and rabbit pellet food ($16.50/50lb bag). And, the pellets contain over 10 times more protein than that cricket diet. Oh...Plus, lots of river driftwood.

I've got plecs I don't even know I have anymore. I have tanks with Medusas, blue panaques, tiger hypancistris, albino rubbers, mustard spots, reds, snowballs, gibbies, african Chiloglanis (I think disneyi), and several others. I find them occassionally during water changes or tank relocations. I bought a box of unidentified cats from exoticfinds and spread them around. Once in a while they show themselves.

Thanks everyone, I tried a few cubes and my Liposarcus Pardalis went up to it, tasted it, took a few bites and left. I will try some of the other foods intended for these.

sounds like a box of fun! You've probably guessed this was coming... but i suppose as you hardly know they're there, don't suppose pics are in the question?
