Can They be submerged..i seen tanks like that..but I don't know if it is a good idea...I know they are bad for dogs and cats and turtles..but what about fish? i plan on putting some in the filter..but what about actually being planted in the tank?

You may be thinking of fully submerged anubias since they have similar leaf shapes, but pothos can't survive submerged

Sent from my ADR6400L using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

Maybe it was anubias and this source didn't know it...So just let the root be submerged and let the stem and leave grow out the top. so the pothos cannot be planted in the gravel...because some of or much of the stem and leaves would be underwater and that kills them. Okay ..got it..im still going to use in filter and on top of aquarium....well until i get rope fish..can't leave the top too open they will jump out. lol

Pothos leaves can be submerged but will eventually die. As said above only roots are submerged and the plant grows great reducing nitrates.

Read my sticky on pothos in my signature below

Trust me, I know a lot about this. They stay totally submerged for a while and will even grow new leaves underwater. But eventually those leaves need to be pushed above by stem growth or they'll sort of whither and/or rot.

I'll also note that based on my observation it seems like the leaves can survive for long periods submerged if they have a chance to dry out every now and then. I know this because when my filter intake starts to get clogged with debris in my swamp enclosure, the water level rises an inch or so.

+1 they will rot and hardly grow if at all. It may look good for a month but if you want a planted tank go for a planted tank with fully aquatic plants.

On another note pothos are IMO one of the best terrarium/viv plant under the sun. easy to grow and they look great plus have sturdy vines for climbing.
