Can Purigen Media Become a Nitrate Factory?

Just wondering...

If this media can become a nitrate factory some how, i heard it is way better than carbon.. and also cheaper to recharge =D

is there any Drawbacks or warning to this product that i should know besides being carefull when treating it after it gets bleached?

I heard something about certain liquid products when added to water such as slime coat can turn it into toxic =X_x=

Nitrates are the end product of the nitrogen cycle. They are not created as in those myths that flourish on many of the other fish sites.
