i'm considering slowly converting my high tech planted 65 to more cichlid geared low tech lighly planted tank. particularly swords and val and south american elodea. but my main focus is a uruguayensis sword i have on the grow now. would it be on the extremely limited do not eat list? hoping for true experience here.

I had a pair of Rotkiels that riped plants to shreds. They didn't eat all of them but tore them up. Java Ferns, Anubius, Vals, Ludwigia, Water Sprite was a favorite and made a total mess. So from my experiance it didn't work. I would be courious to see what others experiances have been.

Beautiful Sevs BTW good choice, I love the Rotties.

i thought they dont eat java ferns. Generally i heard animals dont like the taste of ferns any ideas for live plants that will live through a severum beating i might just buy fake but i dont like having a tank that isnt natural

X2 on the ripping up plants. I even have trouble keeping my fake plants down b/c of my Rottie.

A 65 would be too small for multiple sevs (or a single IMO) anyway. But yeah as others have said, your swords days are numbered if you add a rotty.

rats, any suggestions? i was going to put river rock in the planted area to prevent digging up around the roots. and leave an open swimming area and just plnant the back couple inches
