So I'm in the process of stocking my new 120 gal and I saw this beautiful ~6 inches Green Severum at a small lfs around here... he looks stunning.

It looks a lot like this

But he's the only severum in that tank...

If I buy it he would be housed in a 120 with

2 - 3 1/2 inches Blue Acara (Male/Female - they have been trying to mate)
2 - Firemouth Cichlids (1.5 inches, I think Male/male since one keeps harassing the other)
2+ Clown Loaches (2 inches, gonna get one or two more)

I've never owned a severum before but he looks peaceful. Would he be bothered by the other fish and would he need another severum in the tank or not?

Also, what's the approx. price of a ~6 inches Green Severum? He's got amazing color and finnage and I don't remember the price tag but the store owner is super greedy . Wants to charge like 150 bucks for a 3 inch Discus and around $60 a piece for EB Rams lol

I think it will be fine in your tank with those fish. I've kept Severums together before, and like other Cichlids sometimes they leave each other alone and sometimes one may not want any other Severums sharing its tank. But they are generally good as tankmates. I don't know what to say about the price. You may be able to find a Severum of this quality in the marketplace if the one you want is too high. If it is like the one pictured, it is a very beautiful fish.

Yeah but one severum doesn't need to be with its own kind? I read somewhere that they like small groups to swim together? It was an online store so maybe they wanted to sell as many as possible lol

In the wild ... yes they do enjoy the loose company of other sevs.

In an aquarium environment, they are often happier on their own, as many of them can be quite intolerant of conspecifics when constrained in an aquarium-type space.

Severums are fine a lone most people keep severums in breeding pairs or alone. Or they can be kept in good sized groups. But they do tend to fight eachother so one is fine. They are not discus.
