Im setting up my 65 gallon to have some peacock cichlids in it around 6-8
and wanted to know if I threw in a pair of small convict cichlids 2-3inch until they get bigger will they be fine with 4+inch peacock cichlids

Hard to say, I have had a 3" convict male dominate a 5' tank to the point of keeping every other fish in a top back corner, and he wasn't even breeding. I have also had more docile individuals.
If the peacocks are bigger than the convicts, chances are better. If you can avoid putting them together, probably for the best. Peacocks are expensive, and there is a good chance you will have shredded fins or dead fish.

I would just bring them to the LFS as a donation, most will take in free fish. If your friend has huge Caribe piranhas that can eat them in one bite, then that would probably work. If he has red bellys or something small, I wouldn't try it. Getting eaten in one bite sounds ok to me, torn apart piece by piece sounds awful. Plus who knows the convicts might kill the smaller piranhas.
