ok i get the ban and all but i just have a couple questions...

the law says that there will be no more exporting or importing whatever! :screwy: so anyways.... what if someone kept a snakehead before the ban and it had babies... would that be ok to buy from that guy... or is it all illegal to buy snakeheads from which was bred here in america? its all too confusing to me... :irked:

im not trying to get banned... i mean i would love to ahve a snakeheads.. i remember when i was 8 or 9 somewhere there( currently 14 y.o.) while i was at my homecoutnry, the philippines... i saw a bunch of fish breeders who were sellign snakeheads and they look awesome! i really want one.. but i dont want to break the law or anything!!! :WHOA:

Sadly not true.

The C. argus in the White River in Arkansas are run offs from back in 03 when aquaculture ponds were flooded and a some of the fish escaped.

In the Potomac it is speculated that since C. argus is, well was, the most commonly sold live SH in fish markets and it is custom for certain cultures to release a fish or two, the fish were introduced that way. That is EXACTLY how they got into Crofton Pond.

C. argus was rarely kept in aquariums so you CAN NOT blame the hobbyist. Again, please dont just cut and paste what you read and spew out garbage you hear on TV.

As for the C. maurulia in S. FL, well there really isnt much information about them, but again I suspect its from live food markets rather aquarists.

In Hawaii, they were intentionall introduced (C. striata I believe). So, in a nut shell, STOP babling about how it was the hobbyists fault. IT WAS NOT!!!! :irked:

hi mate ,unfortunatly even if bred in your country they are still illegal. there is no legal way of aquiring one in c.a. for anyone other than a scientist

Quiet down you will get those banned to.:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

I use to own Snake heads before any of these website's were even around, there was a ceartin distain for them before they were banned as well in all LFS. it's nothing for me to feed my Cichla 200 guppies or goldies but back then I got some strange looks when i listed my stock. The Chinese religeous believe that letting the animal which they intended to use for medical reasons is as good as the gift of health for the individule it was intended for or as they see it "looked upon with forgivence and gaining honor" they recieved. Sp if they no longer need the animal then setting the animal free is required to fulfill there show of honor and respect.

But none the less how ever it happned they were going to get banned in America period becuase hobbyist in the past have had bad practices when disposing of fish that have grown to large for the home aquarium. And also beacuse of political reasons, that was the buzz in the early 90's. From what I used to read and hear back then.
