I JUST GOT A USED DAS TANK FROM A LFS FOR $25 THEY TOLD ME IT WAS EITHER A 55 OR 60 GALLON BUT I THINK ITS BIGGER I WOULD USE THE CONVERSION CHART BIT ITS A ODD SHAPE

I KNOW THE MEASUREMENTS DONT MATCH THE PICTURE

GALLONS.jpg

Just change it into to different shapes a prism and a rectangle find their volumes and add them together

I JUST TRIED BUT I CAME UP WITH 106 AND 330

I added all the sides up and got 110.5 inches the I made the tank a square by dividing that by four for easy calculation and got 27.625 inches per side and I kept the height at 26 inches and pluged that into a Aquarium Volume Calculator and came out with 85.89 gallons. sooo I believe that should be right. Make sense?

I didn't take the time to figure it out exactly, but it's around 85 gallons.

PS-there's a button on your keyboard that says "caps lock"...press it

I remember finding the volume of such solids in my grade 9 Math class only the dimensions were in cm because I live in Canada which made the volume measurement in liters a bit easier. But this is easy none the less.

As the people before have said.

For the rectangle the volume is LxWxH

The triangular prism its 1/2xBxHxW

B = Base
H = Height
W = Width
L = Length

Add all the volumes together and the answer will be in cubic inches.

So then we must convert
1 cubic inches = 0.00432900433 US gallons

(THANKS GOOGLE!)

And there you go :)

do you have angle measurements?- when i was breaking the top into rectangles and right triangles (assuming that all angles except the ones on the slanting side were right angles) i discovered an illogical right triangle. If you could repost the dimensions along with the angle measurements we could give you a better mathematical volume. Its ok if you can't, but make sure you find the volume the old fashioned way - one gallon milk jug at a time- so you don't od your fish or not put in enough chlorine neutralizer! good luck!

24050 = area of the tank if it was a rectangle (without the corner cut.
5869.5= area of the cutout

18180.5 cu. in. x 0.00432900433 = 78.7 gallons
