Hi everybody,

I got some Red Cherry Shrimp and a BLACK SHRIMP today.
I have no idea what the black shrimp's species is.
It's about the size of a Red Cherry Shrimp, and it's black and has a slightly rusty tint.
It also has these white markings, sort of like disfigured stripes:P
It's not doing that great in my RCS tank... I really need to know its species so I can take care of it properly.
The pet store guy sold it tome for a dollar fifty, (same as the cherries) but couldn't identify it for me
It looks sort of like a black-er black bee shrimp, or a King Kong shrimp, or a black-er panda shrimp, but I don't think it's one of them because it has that reddish tint.
PLEASE HELP!
Thanks.

No, it doesn't look like the one from http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...9QEwAQ&dur=354. Thanks anyways. (It's not that compact:) and has more black-ish rust)
As for pictures, I will try to get one on ASAP

Tropicalfish34, what kind of shrimp is that? It looks like mine but mine has a bit more white. The eye colour and shape is the same though so I'd like to know please.

I just went to plant inverts.com and I found the Ninja shrimp.... It looks a lot like my black-ish shrimp and my shrimp DOES change colour, like the ninja. The only problem is, ninjas do better in neutral water (ph 6.5-7.5) but my tank is, like, really alkaline. Over 8. My cherries do well in it, but the ninja shrimp (maybe) is kind of depressed and not eating well. I really don't want to buy those commercial ph decreasers because they don't work so well. Is there any other (safe) way to lower ph without getting a reverse osmosis water thingy?

dont worry about that until the shrimp is ID'd

As for lowering the pH, peat moss or wood could help, best not to change it quickly though, as that will have negative consequences on your shrimp.

Thanks Tropicalfish34, but I don't think it's a Malaya shrimp... Pretty sure now my shrimp is a Ninja Shrimp

Would some driftwood bring the ph down a little? If so, how do you get a really small one because my tank is 5 gallons. The ones I see at my local pet store are almost as big as my tank. o.O
