I saw this on my puffer and he's been having his mouth red ever since he ate 2 red crabs Monday night and the redness came out of nowhere Tuesday morning?????
Please help

ok i think i found the solution for my puffers redness i think he might have been hitting himself in the reflection from the bottom of the tank the filter power moved my sand and made this circle and i noticed today that he was there looking at the reflection trying to bite it OMG i am sooooooo relieved!its going away i added more sand to the tank lol

Yeah i was thinking maybe it was rubbing when u got up this morning... But still wasnt 100% sure since my puffer never had a red mouth...

I know but he was mad he was really trying to attack his reflection he moved so fast my water was cloudy for a good minute I was also thinking I've had my fahaka for a year now on march he's about 8 inches I asked around and in respond I got he's a male and by next year he should be 15 inches if it was female 12 inches first year?? And that males ate more brighter more colorful and more aggressive does this sound right ?

This is exactly why a bare-bottom tank is such a bad idea for a puffer. I'm glad he's getting better! Did you add anything to help with the healing?

Yes i Added some aquarium salt and some prime with some stability and my lfs said to give a chance ???what do you think??

Mine had this same red raw lip lips when he was chasing his shadow and kicking up moving sand everywere it turned real white and now is normal hope thats what it is
