Can someone I.D. this fish?

My lfs. told me it was a black tetra I call b*llsh*t I think it could be some kind of hatchet fish!! Thank's in advance!! The extension on the tail is throwing me off?

He is OR she is 6 inches long! And very fast!

That's Triportheus angulatus (aka Narrow Hatchet). I haven't seen one in a long time.

That's a nice find... I love these fishes every time I see them in the wild. They are a common sight in som rivers of NE Brazil. They are fast swimmers, as you have already noticed, and eat almost ANYTHING. I saw a fisherman catch some specimens using corn (he wanted to catch some leporinus, BTW).
