I just picked this little guy up. He's probably about 1.5-2" and was sold as a red hump but I'm not really sure. The pics are iPhone pics and I just fed them so excuse the stuff floating around in the water, my tank can have a bit of a feeding frenzy that gets messy.photo(2).JPGphoto.JPG

Sorry they're sideways, not sure how to fix that.

Hey, thanks for the responses guys. Iporangensis looks right to me as I look into it further. He (or she) is a pretty cool little fish. Not shy at all, doesn't get bullied by some larger and often aggressive tankmates. Do they do better in groups? The articles I've read dont really specify if they like groups or like to go solo.

I have 4 Iporangensis and they are very surly. The breeding pair are always together and usually leave the other 2 alone to do their own thing unless they're about to lay eggs, at which point they keep the other 2 away but never harm them.

Ok. Next question: can anyone tell me what sex this little guy is? I normally look into the fish I buy more than this but this one was one of those "I see a cool fish and it fits exactly what I'm looking for" things.

Its still too young to give a correct sexing. If you are trying to get a breeding pair buy a couple more and then thin the group to a male and female once they pair off.
