I got this fish from a local pet shop because he looked different. He was sold as a convict but I don’t think that’s what he is. He’s definitely in the amatitlania family, and it’s definitely a male, judging by his bright red tail and blue throat.
Can someone ID this amatitlania?

Oh yeah I can see that. Somebody also told me it could be amatitlania siquia “red Costa Rica” because of the red tail it has.
Definitely a nigrofasciata variant, looks like a cross hrp but can't be too sure. I sure wish it was one of the tortuguero reds, I've been looking for those for the longest time.
