Can someone ID this Gar

Just got it today off of craigslist for free. It was listed as an Asian Gar. But im not sure. Haven't researched yet.

i'd suggest looking at the gar ID keys and you should be able to ID it pretty easily. "Asian" gar is at least a somewhat accurate descriptor (but mostly not) --

Not a gar, not a characin (I think). I would give this guy some feeder guppies/rosies ASAP!

It' in the Belondidae family.... looks starved and undernourished, get some feeders in him!

those are brackish IMO, i always see those in estuaries here in the philippines everytime i go fishing.

Many brackish fish can survive in freshwater. Just keep everything clean.

But I would be prepared to have a brackish tank incase he still starts declining in health.
