Can Someone identify this fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The color in the fins means it is one of the big Esox, not a pickerel. I haven't seen enough juvenile pike and musky to distinguish them, but it's one of the two. So...don't get him unless you're prepared for a four-foot-long killing machine.

its a juvi tiger or a juvi pike. Most likly a juvi tiger musky. It will need at least a 5-6 foot wide tank.

woah!! Looks like this is not the one i was looking for. It would be too large for my 75 gal. Was hoping this was one of the smaller pickerels like chain, or grass. Sigh..

Thanks for the heads-ups guys! Guess i won't be getting this.

If you want an Esox for your 75, E. americanus (including grass and redfin)is the only one that is suitable. Chain pickerel get pretty big too, just not as big as pike and muskellunge.

You're in Singapore, right? I'm surprised you're finding any Esox there. If you were in the US I could suggest some vendors for grass pickerel, but I doubt any of them ship internationally.

Yea. Spoke to the lfs guy and he said he personally brought in those from Jakarta. They're very rare here in Singapore though. Second time i've seen those in years. Thought i could add another predator fish to my collection. Yup, i'll be looking out for the smaller variants.
