Can Someone Sex my JD?

I just set up my tank again after a long hiatus away from keeping fish. I'm not sure what sex my JD is. Its only about an 1.5 inch so is still fairly young. If anyone can sex it that would be awesome!

I was thinking male because of the black spot in the middle of the body and at the end of the body. Also the pectoral fins are pretty long and almost go over the tail. They are also pointed when he/she shows them.

Sorry I'm new to JD's and other Cichlids similar. I used to only have Oscars. Whats the spangle?

little too small, i agree, females have lots of blue on the jaw where as the males have the blue all over the body you will see it soon enough..just give it a couple more weeks
i have two mating dempsey's. great fish if you dont mind them hiding for weeks at a time lol

Sorry. The spangles are the little metallic bluefish spots that grow in as they will get older.

spangling is like a blue beard on the jaw with bright blue lines when the jd is around 2-3inchs you will see heres a pic

Sweet. I see what your saying about the spangles. Im real new to JDs
