Can someone tell me if my RD is ok?

My RD has started to get these black marks in the past week, i've only had her 2 weeks and they werent there before. The only thing that comes to my mind is she is rubbing her fins against the heater in the backround. Please let me know if someone thinks its more serious that I do.

All red devils go through this process, the black will fade just as quickly at it came.

That's perfectly normal. As with most cichlids when they age they change colors (sometimes). Especially with red devils.

But these dont look like color changing, these look like burns. Also, there is a 2" Rd in there too, and it looks like he just blackened his lower lip, which is why I'm thinking they are burn marks.

Yeah he is just fine.

He's ok I've seen this many times...I have had a lot of parots and midas/red devils that will get black when you move them. They are allways fine.

My Red Devil would get a black crown that went from his upper lip all the way along his back to about half of his dorsal fin....its kewl bro. No worries...next comes the white...

They get these black marks whenever something changes - either good or bad. Change in water temp, conditions, tank decor, tankmates, food - absolutely anything can bring it on. It will go away as soon as the fish adjusts to whatever the change was. If you're concerned, maybe check your water parameters, make sure its not an unwanted change in the water, but other than that, don't worry about it.

I'm almost postive that they are not burns...
