Can the dead visit you in your dreams?

I had a friend way back back in high school. He passed away from an illness. Like a few days after he passed away, I saw him in my dreams. He was in my house. At that time when I was dreaming, I did not know if he was dead and I thought he was alive. He looked very well like he was way back in high school. So I talked to him saying how is he and has he seen any of our friends. Then all of a sudden he looked very ill and he could not speak, then I asked him what was wrong? Then afterwords the scene changed, I saw him over me and he had tears in his eyes. I woke up afterwords.

Was this just a dream or was it a spirtual experience?

Its strange thou after he passed away, one of his friends would leave messages at his myspace page saying, "Visit me in my dreams sometimes."

I had a similar thing... I had a brother that passed away a few years back in an accident. Just a couple of months ago I had a dream about him - he was there and very alive. He said that the whole death thing wasn't real and he was just away and people got confused.

I don't know if it was a spiritual experience or just a dream - but I like to think our souls live on past our death and that maybe it was him.

when you dream you basically have direct access to the unconscious. The strange imagery you experience as dream is partly due to biochemical processes in the brain, and your mind tries to make sense of those processes by relating them to something you do understand, something that is a part of your experience.

I've heard lots of stories about people being visited by lost loved ones in dreams, and I think it has more to do with you visiting your memory of that person in your mind that it does some supernatural visit from the afterlife.

oh everyone has their own opinion. i have worked in the medical field since 1994 as a combat medic, paramedic and also with elderly alzheimers and dementia patients. i have been with quite a few ppl as they die (in emergency situations)-and found some dead in their rooms. i can just say its a weird feeling to watch someone go-and once they leave it gives me a really heavy feeling that whats left behind is just a husk.

i do believe that the dead can come drop by and say hello when you sleep. its just reassurance that they are okay. i could tell some really weird stories.. but i believe in ghosts or whatever you call them- the spirit and that it does exist after death. and that some do have unfinished business here with us..

with my beliefs i say yes. when my uncle and my cousin passed away, i had a dream where they were saying good bye...

I beleive so, Red belly. I think that dreams can sometimes be a connection to a spiritual realm. I have had dreams that seemed as real as life, where people where afraid of me, also I could fly.

I talked to a few people about it in detail, they suggested that I was unknowingly entering the astral plain and being seen by real people as an apparition.

In one of my dreams I was even shot at and the people around me were in hysterics. I remember it clearly.
This is what I have experienced and understand as truth. So yes I do believe you can see the dead and the living in your dreams.
