I have been keeping Africans for a year or so, however I'm now starting a SA/CA aquarium and was wondering if the following "gentleman(women)" could go together.

90 gallon tank with driftwood and sand substrate. Cascade canister (forgot the number but its the one rated for 150gph), Aquaclear HOB, and a DIY HOB, two air pumps.

- Oscar
- Black Belt
- Electric Blue Jack Dempsey
- Green Terror
- Red Devil
- Flower horn
- Texas

My LFS has a Black Belt of about 4-5 inches, and an Oscar of about 8-9 that I'm interested in; the rest I'd likely order online.
My favorite 3 on the above list would be the Oscar, Black Belt, and Electric Blue JD - not in any particular order - if it came down to making cuts.

So what do you all think?

Thank you for your time and help

You wont be able to house all them in a 90. Flowerhorns and red devil are so aggressive that they'd need their own tank. Probably the same with a black belt. Electric blue JD's might be a little too peaceful and oscars and green terror could get bullied by the texas. But then again it always comes down to an individuals personality.

Hopefully you can find a good combo you'll like!

No where near enough room in a 90 gallon. I have that many fish and they are in a 240gal. and it still looks a bit cramped at times.

The only two that could live in the 90 would be the green terror and EBJD. My 90 is eventually gonna house my black belt by itself but that's gonna be it. Red devil, black belt, and flower horns are known to be aggressive.

Much too small for those species and those numbers. The Red Devil, Blackbelt, and FH have the potential to kill that stock and claim the tank. Including the Oscar, the three previously mentioned fish also grow the largest of your choices, 12"+. EBJD can be pretty sensitive when young, so larger more aggressive tankmates will usually be too much for them to handle. I would choose either the EBJD, Texas, or Green Terror as candidates to keep with tankmates in that size aquarium.

I tried similar stock in my 300 and it didnt work. As juvies you might be able to house them for a little while, but not as adults. Aside from the aggression issues that come with maturity, the bio-load would be really heavy.

I have 1 (one) oscar by itself in my 90G. I don't believe there is room for more in a 90g if you want to keep happy and healthy fish

You could maybe do a breeding pair of any of those fish, with the exception of the red devil, like a pair of texas, pair of flowerhorn, pair of green terrors. 2 oscars would probably be fine. From my experience, texas, oscar, and green terror are about the same aggression level to where you could maybe combine 2 of those fish.

I have a 90 with a solo midas in it. I want to pair him up but not sure he'll take a wife. If i didnt have him i would want to try a breeding pair of texas/carpintis. I would recommend a breeding pair in there. I've heard of a lot of cool tanks with just a breeding pair. Good luck!
