Without a tag, would it be possible to determine whether a tank can or cannot hold water? I got a boa about a month ago from a local owner and he gave me the tank the snake was in. It is a 65 gallon with the dimensions and weight of a fish tank and not a reptile tank. They took the tag off the bottom, and the only warnings left on the torn sticker say do not handle enclosure when wet, and do not lift from top frame. There is another green tag, but all it says is assembled by Dick, with other numbers I cant see. The glass seems as thick as my 55, and it looks sealed very well. I don't want to just chance it by filling it and halfway through it buckles. But I think that that would reallt be the only way of knowing. Ideas?:help2:

If in doubt, you could always add a bit of inert sealant to the corners just for good measure.

Well, I have a 36 gallon rep tank that i resealed and it hold water fine, got my puffers in there right now. Really the only way to tell is to test fill the tank, outside....all the way and let it sit for a day. Then just check for leaks.

i would just reseal it. bc the silicon is prob dried from being out of water and in the heat from the tank. i did the sam ething but filed it up in my room no tests or anythin...came home to 20 gallons of water on the floor. yea wont do that again. just reseal it and know that it will last instead of guessing.
good luck man! btw what happened to the boa ?

Alright I will go ahead and seal it. I didn't know if the glass would hold but since it's been attempted before I don't see why not try.
@scalesand fins, the boa is doing just fine. I built her a 4X2X2 wooden cage.

cool! great to hear she is doin good. you got pics of the cage and her ?

What kind of top is on it?

I had a 40 gal. breeder reptial tank with a slider top screen half full of water for a few years. Then i put on a full regualr top for a fish tank and it's worked great for over a year.
