I’m guessing this is the English ivy or some other form of IV plant that I had growing in a pot I uprooted it, rinsed the soil off and now have it sitting over night in a glass of water for any extra debris to fall off. But is it safe? I may have asked this question before... I know I used it in my aquariums like ten years ago but I was also a bit more careless then and I need to know my pets would be ok if I added this to the aquarium with the majority of the leaves on driftwood and mainly only roots underwater?

Anyone done this before with ivy? I see it all the time with devils ivy but what about other types of ivy? Opinions please?

Not an aquatic plant. Also believe it to be toxic and carry chemicals that can cause death/poor water quality.

Really? I have a vine that dips down into my tank. Mommy plant is in a pot. The part that dips into the tank has grown roots. It’s been there for at least a year.

I also have seen it replicated many times before. But you’re saying it’s not safe to put Ivy plants into aquariums? People float vines of devils ivy all the time.

Floating the roots maybe ok but don’t believe it to be a fully aquatic plant.

Let me clarify the “believe”part. If others know for sure then I’ll gladly submit/default to those members.

Ok because it’s.m a different type of ivy it’s toxic? Devils ivy isn’t toxic so I was thinking this would be fine lol but I’m glad I asked first. Thank you!

English ivy can cause a dermatitis. Not as bad as poison ivy. I was also under the impression an ivy is an ivy and have similar properties.
