can this go in my planted tank

I think you will be fairly safe with them in your tank. Now in regards to your filter, I think the impeller would be strong enough to mince up the baby clams before they could get big enough to mess it up, now if you were running an under gravel filter then you might get a build up of clams under there.

it is a fresh water clam. It and any others i can find (assuming nobody says no)will be going into a 125 with a FX5. Didn't think it would hurt but wanted to make sure. Be sides extra nature filtration.

never had one, but I have read they have a habit of dying, and since they tend to be buried in the sand, you have no way of knowing, until it starts to rot and causes all sorts of issues with the water quality.

yes it is a freshwater clam I have 35 in my 20 gal had them oalmost a year and a half with no ill effects. I started with 40 but some died my ghost shrimp go nuts over a dead clam and they swarm it till its insides are gone even when it floats.

Wouldn't hurt to put them in, but also remember this, they are filter feeders, feeding mainly off free floating algae etc (if i remember correctly) so if you have a green water problem, they would be very happy to slowly eat away at the problem, but if there isn't enough food for them they will die, and when they die and you pull them out the tank, they STINK REALLY BAD!!!

I had about 4 in one of my tanks, and after they died, i said never again... since at times you really don't know when they are dead unless you can see something that shouldn't be picking at them, picking at them...
