I have a 55g long with :

-4 weather loaches (5" ea.)
-2 rope fish (10" ea.)
-1 peacock eel (5")
-1 senegalus bichir (2")
Some small extras.

I know that the loaches and bichir will be about 10" when grown, the ropes 16-18", and the peacock 8ish", but because they're all thin and wiggly, will they have enough space/have a low enough bio-load?

I think it won't work when they're all grown, but I want some more experienced opinions.

Thanks!

Cant help but think the ropes will be abit cramped, I only have 1 in a 90 gal but he's 16inches and very chunky I would not think he would be comfortable in a 55gal, although he isnt the most active of fish he does like to stretch himself out now and then. As for bioload, he's the messiest fish in the tank, big chunky worm sized bits of crap! As for Bichirs they should be fine in a 55gal. My concern is a 10inch ropefish could and will swallow a 2inch bichir whole!

Another note, These "small extras" will surely end up as food with the ropes and once the bichir start growing!

Hope that helps! With the exception of the ropes (purely coz of their adult size) the stocking seems great to me! Maybe lose the ropes and double up on the bichirs?

Enjoy all your snakey fish!

I think I'll be getting a bigger tank in the future in that case, and considerig how slowly ropes grow I should be okay for a few years, yeah? ^^ The 'small extras' get moves once anyone's big enough+fast enough to get them. As of now the bichir has overtaken the ropes int he race to get too obig to eat and is totally safe XD (in fact, he's most at risk of eating/biting othe other now!)

I'm about to start my 55g's "final thread" since I've made some changes since then, but thanks for the help so far!
