Would like to get some general info on stingrays such as fresh/brackish species, diet, tank size and necessities. I know these questions are broad but just now starting my research..... Also, what species would be good for a beginner?

Motoros and leopoldis are good hardy rays. I highly recommend motoros that have been in your local lfs in a few weeks. Make sure that there are no recessed hole in the forehead and pelvic bones do not stick out ( if possible ).

agreed, a healthy ray should be a fatass and want to eat with the heart of an elephant :grinyes:

Its ok to have pelvic bones sticking out as newly imported rays are most likely skinny as long as it has a good appetite. But i wouldnt buy a ray with a recessed forehead. That is beyond skinny.

i agree with the room plus ask the lfs how long they had the ray and tell them to feed the fish before you buy.

Take a look at my site their is all you want to know ( at least most of it ) and look on the different sites on the internet.
