I'm gonna assume so. I have a 125 gallon outdoor pond with a large (9+ inch) comet.

Also a 29G tank and a 5g. 29g has 2 smallish comets and 2 male, fancy guppies.

5g was recently set up (maybe 21 days ago) with common guppies, from day one. (Want to use it for a grow out tank for fancy guppy fry) Anyhow, i ran out of safe start and have been using pond start. It would seem, both do the same thing but pond start is more, concentrated. I use city water. My 29 g has been cloudy for a good month, despite water changes.

I also have a "natural" outdoor tank, with fancy guppy mothers and their fry, seperated by a screen. It's a 55g that is to suspect to come in the house, i have about 30g in it, on a stand. It's mostly rainwater, tannin stained by oak leaves. No air nor filter, but they thrive, (though i do, dump some water thru thr screen, from high up, at least once a day) along with tadpoles. The idea is to cycle this 5g to grow out the fancy guppies. I dont want to stress the fry. They seem really happy in that outdoor tank, perhaps I will soon add pics, of it. It never turns cloudy.

Some can, normally my tank dont get cloudy from the medication but mine are also much more sizeable. Cloudiness can also be a sign of the cycling getting going in your aquarium. Which is more likely to be the case Id assume

Scoop some water out in a clear glass see if it's cloudy still. Could be a bacterial bloom. Isn't pond start bacteria? It's not a chlorine remover. I do some additions of bacterial supplements also but usually if it gets cloudy it clears in a day or so.

Been cloudy for weeks, just did a 5 gallon water change (gravel vacumming) and changed the filter and used "start right" dechlorinator. As far as I can tell, the pond start claims to be a dechlorinator.

Still very cloudy. Going to a friends to get well water. Seems the cause may be city water?

City water is fine just use dechlorinator like prime, api tap water conditioner, stresscoat, or a similar product. I use this, concentrated and treats up to 76000 gallons per purchase.

Pond start is for jump starting beneficial bacteria colonies... i wouldn't use it as a dechlorinator. It would certainly cause cloudiness if youve been using untreated water because your bacteria is struggling to grow with all the chlorine you're adding.

Could just be the jungle brand is crap. I don't like anything that says "promotes fish slime coat" how and why does it do that? Usually that is because something is irritating the skin of the fish. Maybe it is promoting the slime coat ability of your water too?? Lol
Like Backfromthedead Backfromthedead said use a product like prime if you have to. It costs more because it does work. I didn't like and don't like using any of that stuff. I set up a dedicated temp adjusted water line with a three stage carbon filter to take care of chlorine and refill my tanks after waterchange. Not everyone can do that I get it, but I have my own thoughts on things like prime. Unfortunately for some people it's a nessicary evil. I'll avoid it if possible in my personal tanks and I never trust the cheap crap.
