I have a gallon of "amquel +" and noticed a couple days ago that it was starting to smell like eggs. The smell is getting worse and worse.... It's now a very strong smell of dead fish and rotten eggs.

I've never heard of water conditioner turning bad, but what else could cause this smell? I opened the jug less than a month ago:confused:

I think on one of the amquel bottles... it states that it has a harmless odor. That could be it.

I ordered 2 one gallon jugs and I opened the second after the first started to smell and it doesn't smell bad. The odor is very foul and I couldn't find any info on the subject.

Oh, i have a 16 oz. bottle... and i thought i read it on the bottle.... but i could be wrong.

I recall something about amquel+ going bad, but amquel (original) being ok. Saw something to that effect on some forums somewhere years ago. I stopped using amquel because the smell was disconserting and there were plenty of other options.

i had a 40gallon water but that i used to mix salt water in for a system a work and after about 6-7 months every time i did a water change i used to loose fish. it took me ages to figure out why. then i seen an article on using non food grade tubs to mix water in and it said that the lower grade plastic will eventually produce this type of bacteria. so i took a scrapping of the side of the tub and put it under a scope and it was jumpin all over the place. so i binned it a got a food grade tub and touch would its bin ok. so all i say is either wash it out and let it dry out before mixin water of make sure its food grade plastic like a brewing bucket, or somethin like that.
