colorado!
ive had my 135 for a small amount of time so far, and decided i wanted to convert to salt. then after talking with my dad and messing around he gave me the ok for a big basement pond/pool/tank build...

so my first thought was SALT SALT SALT, allow sharks and eel's and groupers to get a nice size...

but i started to think,

i should prolly find out if i can even get a shark out here....

i called exotic aquatics (typically deal with aqua imports but the young crowd that has started working their is pissing me off)

and they typicaly can get a banded cat shark EGG in spring time.... $40 which is not bad, but i would be worried if its fertile, how its gonna handle the acclimation etc etc

thats the only saltwater shark they get.

ive looked at liveaquaria and such, only to find that cat sharks can range from 50 a egg to 200 a shark...

also the eppeulletes (cant spell) are like $350!!!!

and i havent seen any smooth hounds or anything else around.

then as far as eel and such, aqua imports ask's 189 for their zebra moray!

so im feeling like freshwater might be the way.....

i was set on a shark tank, but now that im thinking realisticly about the skimmer, the salt needed, water changes, temps... SHARK PRICES! AND availability
and im concerned that it all may just be too over whelming and i would hate to put all the money into making a salty, then go to get the inhabitants that i want and i cant even affoard them, or they die quickly.... idk

anyone have any info they would care to share?

thanks :nilly:

Yeah, I've read that sharks, even the smallest species still get quite large and therefore would require a larger tank. It's probably wiser not to go with a shark. Todd's tropical fish gets them though if you want to find out more info and Fish Den has an egg.
