I currently have a breeding pair of Giant kribs in my tank and i've been offered a breeding pair of catfish and also a breeding pair of Ancistrus pleco's.

As i only have 2 large one of them would need to house 2 breeding pairs, does anyone know if any would be ok bred in the same tank?

:)

Welcome to MFK..........If you want to breed the fish to sell the/trade the fry, then I would suggest breeding the pairs in seperate tanks...........Breeding the trio of pairs will lead to territorail disputes and less fry...........

Thanks :)

Maybe time to convince my misses to let me have another tank :D

Yes..........In the fish hobby, having multiple tanks is a plus.....Once the feeling is brought upon someone on the "how to's," the, the hobbyist, begin breeding their fish............And breeding fish only leads to breeding their own food for the fish...........Whatever the case, do not kill the theory of having multiple tanks...........Starting small, say 10-20g LONG tanks are a good start to have laying around.......Then, as you progress into the level of larger tanks, you automatically upgrade the smaller extras(tanks) into 55g tanks..............I have...............

yeh you can breed mulitples in the same tank . It is called free food :)

In my tanks usually babies all get eaten either before they hatch or as soon as they hatch. The parents usually just give up after a short while of trying to fend off the hungry attackers.

If you wish to breed fish I would recommend setting up a tank for the pair alone.

If you cant afford another tank... you said you had 2 large tanks, how big?
You could separate the with a plexy glass. Buy a peice of plexy glass, measure it, cut it and drill holes in it small enough to keep the fry in but water going thru... Example

This is in a 125 gal, separated because of other stock in the tank that would eat the fry. I also used air stone across the fry side to keep them away from the holes in the plexy (occaisionally a few would get thru). The holes were 1/16 of an inch.

Now that the fry are larger I have them separated in a different tank because I had the space. But technically you could keep it that way. Please note that a filter was not on the fry side of the plexy and it was more maintaining and clean up involved

Thanks WarrendaFish,

My tanks are quite small compared to most on here, but big compared to my kids 25 Litre tank :D

I have one which is 140 Litre and another that's 190 Litre, but the biggest is a corner tank that's a quarter circle shape so that would be hard to divide i think..

I don't think the 140 split into 2 would be sufficient for my Kribs and pleco's. I think its time to upgrade my kids tank to a larger one :D

I agree.. Time to upgrade. If you can afford it it's really the best way
