can you cut off th stinger or the spine at te end of a teacup ray's tail to prevent getting stung?

sorry for the noob question, i want to insure saftey for me and the stingrays i may get :popcorn::popcorn:

don't. they will not sting themselves...
also, there is no such thing as a teacup stingray. you mostly have a baby retic ray.

I dont call them teacups but thats up to you,as for why you want to know what would happen if you did,ive got no idea.
Just be careful and ask these guys on here how to deal with moving them,i didnt have any problems getting mine out of the bag and into the tank.

Will the tankmates be the flowerhorn and plec?
And the 500g wont be big enough for an alligator gar,i hope you know that?.

You have more of a chance of getting stung trying to remove it then just being careful in the tank.

a 500g is much MUCH better than most people keep them in. I think he can have one for a while in there.

do your research before buying a ray.

the reason i say this is because if you had then you would see that this question and all of the other questions you most likely will have will be answered for you. that way you wont ask another question like this again. you would also see that even in england there is no such ray as a tea cup. its a generic term for them. so you need to find out what type of ray you are getting. im not tryen to be mean by saying this just that knowing about what you are getting is very important to the well being of your upcoming purchase. and for this question i did a search for you and these are the answers you should get. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=294078&highlight=cut+stinger
