Can you do a water change during the cycle? details....>

I have a 55 that i am cycling and for over a week now i have had a high ammonia concentration. The tank is almost 3 weeks setup. Question is can I do a water change before the cycle is done to remove some of the ammonia? or will it mess up the "cycling" process?

If you have fish in there then you should change the water. Otherwise too high ammonia would kill your fish.

Yeah dude, just don't change the filter media!

If there are fish in there you NEED to do water changes. If this is a fishless cycling, do a water change before you put fish in after the tank is cycled.

Of course change the water got to keep ammonia down so fish dont die
