what are we talking for sizes?

A 2" bluegill and a 14" Bass, no problem...

a 4" bluegill and a 8" Bass, yeah, that's gonna be difficult...

If you're that worried, cut them. However, bass seem to have no problem downing cichlids around that size. Shouldn't be any different for blue gill.

I've cought 15" pbass, and 26" largemouth bass using 6-9" sun fish.

they should be fine.
