Can you get permit in Ohio to keep Walking Catfish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't think you can as they are listed as an invasive species. You would have to check with ODNR as well as the FWS.

First off how are they invasive if they can’t survive outdoor Ohio winters? Secondly Viktor from Fishstory got a permit to keep them but in Florida they actually are invasive.

Good questions for the appropriate authorities in Ohio

1. We have been asking the same question about the other 52 species of snakehead for years now
2. Unless you want people walking into your house to look at the fish/treat it like a licensed public aquarium, no you cannot get the same permit Viktor has
