I was just forwarded these pics.....

Didn't think anyone was able to get their hands on Vatf, but apparently there's a vendor here claiming his aren't Tatf.

Can anyone confirm what these ATF really are?

Thanks guys.....

No clue where the pic came from. It was forwarded to me from my girlfriend, she knows I'd like to get my hands on a group of Vatf, but I wasn't aware of anyone being able to get any lately.

I'm guessing she probably saw them on facebook, she loves that place, you couldn't pay me to participate in it.

if it is F22 i think he decided that he had Fatf...

DB you should really consider GETTING TATF. They seem real aggressive and have a very toothy mouth.... They also seem to have much bigger mouths.
Seem to look otherwise like Vatf.

Its impossible to tell what they are from the picture. There's just not enough detail.

As for vittatus, they can be had. They are aaaaallll over southern Africa and there is a group that continued to be exported from the Zambezi right through the whole Congo debacle that is now ending.

As for tanzaniae vs vittatus, they're essentially the same thing but one gets slightly larger and has different colors. Same behavior, same body shape, everything. They're so closely related that tanzaniae was considered vittatus until 1986.

I can't help but feel that VATF seem so much more colorful then the rest......

Have wanted Vatf since first laying eyes on them in that big white 600 gallon plywood tank..... I believe it was Tigerfang's tank..... Many years ago.

After waiting this long and never owning one, I'm not sure I'd be willing to settle for something else.

I almost pulled the trigger on a Tatf group from Wes, but he ruined that by putting Argentinian big headed Dorados on the list.

IF I did opt for it could ray pups even be trusted with 3-4" Tigers? It's hard for me to even begin justifying a tank with no rays.

DB,

You might be interested in the east African Hydrocynus forskahlii sensu stricto. These are imported much less commonly than are the west African/Nigerian H. forskahlii "population E", and they are much more colorful. Thier color is comparable to a vittatus but the top out at 18".

That's what f22 has for sale right now. If I had the funds and a place to put them, I'd have six as dithers for Max.

I may consider one if I ever see a forskahlii in my area. Id like to upgrade first too though.
