I have a 125 gallon tank without wood. I would like a pleco but don't want to mess with the decor. Is there any other way to have a pleco tank?

Even the ones that supposedly require wood as part of their diet when kept in captivity, as far as science has proven to date, they do not.

So are you saying a common pleco can live without wood fibers?

That is why my wood slowly got smaller and my pleco got so big! :nilly:
Last tank I did not have a pleco. I think the snails ate my wood. Not sure...

Whether a pleco can survive without the wood, many types are used to it being in their diet.
So sure they don't necessarily need it but they do enjoy it.
