Can you ID my new piranhas?

i just got them today, they were marked as gold piranha, but im curious as to whether there macs or spilo. what do you think?

i will take some better pics later, when it starts to get darker.
 
if sold as gold spilo then i'm pretty sure they are macs
 
my other camera is better, but it only wants to work when its dark, so i will get some better pics tonight and post them.

don't be, it's a rare species of camera, I've never seen one in my life.
you just need to add a common one to your collection which is not nocturnal only.
 
they're so little. could be anything. RBP's look like this at a certain size. Could be any serra. It all depends on what happens to the spots. If that black band near the caudal fin settles into a "mid-band" upon adulthood, I would say maculatus. If it settles into a terminal band I would say compressus. You see....could be anything.
 
I've never seen compressus sold that that small size, but Coop you are correct it could be anything and won't be certain until it's bigger or at least with some better quality pictures.
now I look back into the pictures I couldn't even see the tail...maybe just me.
