I was told it was a white bass and if so it probly would have been a state record as it came in around 22 inches or so and alonf with my future father inlaw judged that it weighed around 5lbs and the NYS record is 3lbs 6oz. This fish fought for 5 mins on my light pole which i think may be broke now but not sure. Do you know what it is because if i really threw away a record fish im gonna lose it

that is not a white bass, I would need a better looking picture showing the mouth and fins, but it looks like a drum or some species of buffaloe fish.

Thats a freshwater drum

Heres a picture of white bass. I couldnt tell if it was a drum or not because of the angle and the fact its being held by its mouth, In my area we have several species of Buffaloe fish.

ok because I've never caught a white bass or a drum and someone told me it was a white bass and it was probly a state record. If i threw away a state record fish i would have flipped.
