Can You overfeed your Pbass??

quick question, I have a new little guy jus got from lfs. About 3-3.5in. I have been feeding guppies every 3 days. I notice that he eats everything in site. First feeding i put about 7 in there. He took 6 down instantly. left the 7th till later.

2nd feeding I put only 5 in he ate 3 had the fourth still in his mouth with the tail jus sticking out and was still chasing the 5th guppy trying to eat it. His stomach was definitely stretched after that.

Are they just hogs, or should i give him less guppies more often or maybe even 1 or 2 feeders that tend to be a little bigger.

My lfs is super clean and on top of there tanks, so im not to worried about getting bad feeders. They keep the place pristine.

no they are pigs, I used to have 2 Temz and they would eat everything in sight.

Welcome to Chicla!!! The best way I believe to feed them is a couple small feedings a day instead of one big one. Im not sure if they can literally eat themself to death but Im sure its to good for them. Also you will definately want to try to get them off those feeders no matter how clean your LFS is, those feeders could still be bad from the wholesalers.

you are better off feeding them 2 or 3 small meals a day.. and yes you can over feed them.. they are just like any other fish

you can overfeed them.
but ive only had one that ate itself to death.
all the others didnt,although they would continue to chase food and attempt to eat it.
like others have said,more than one feeding a day is better.

He is still pretty small and has zero interest in anything that isnt a guppy. LFS had said to feed like every 3 days. Should I give him like 1 or 2 feeders a day or what do you think is a good schedule. I cant walk past the tank without him following me around waiting.

forget what the lfs told you.
feed him until he gets a slight bulge in his stomach,twice a day.

do you pre treat your feeders? If so whats a good way to do so. I just had an ich breakout in the tank and I dont want to go through that again!
