I'm taking out my river sand, and putting in black sand..id like to bury 1 or 2 round airstones...

wondering if anyone has attempted this?

yeah its no problem. the air has enough pressure behind it that it will make its way to the surface

I've done this on several occasions... it poses no risk...

My brother's done the same thing in his tank (with reasonably fine gravel). He had to put a rock on the airstone to keep it buried.

I like it since its a little more stealth than a huge airstone being the eyesore of the tank. i did this for my african tank

My airstones get covered on occasion and have had no problems. I'd like to bury mine as well but the rays keep moving the sand or gravel around as they like to play in the bubbles.

excellent!

was concerned about it shooting sand everywhere =O

when we move my tank im gonna try burying 2 large bubble disks (or whatever you wanna call um)

just a thought, but if it were kicking up too much sand, you can also use a valve to regulate the amount of air flow unil you get it they way you like it . . .
